Check the CNC material list from the CNC machining companies in China.
Cheap CNC Material——ABS
ABS is one of the most common cheap CNC material, with good mechanical properties, excellent impact strength, high heat resistance, and good machinability.
ABS has a low density, making it very suitable for lightweight applications. ABS CNC machining parts are often used as prototypes before injection molding mass production.
Typical density: 1.00-1.05 g/cm³
Cheap CNC Material——Nylon
Nylon, also known as polyamide (PA), a cheap CNC material often used in engineering applications due to its excellent mechanical properties, good impact strength, high chemical resistance, and wear resistance. However, it easily absorbs water and moisture.
Nylon 6 and Nylon 66 are the most commonly used grades in nylon CNC machining.
Typical density: 1.14 g/cm³
Cheap CNC Material——Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic with high toughness, good machinability, and excellent impact strength (superior to ABS). It can be colored by polycarbonate CNC service, but is usually optically transparent, making it very suitable for a wide range of applications, including fluid devices or automotive glass.
Typical density: 1.20-1.22 g/cm³
Cheap CNC Material——POM
POM, commonly known by the trade name Delrin, is one of the highest machinability engineering thermoplastic materials among plastics.
POM CNC (Delrin) is usually the best choice of cheap CNC material for CNC machining parts needing high precision, high rigidity, low friction, excellent high-temperature dimensional stability, and extremely low water absorption.
Typical density: 1.40-1.42 g/cm³
Cheap CNC Material——PTFE(Teflon)
PTFE, commonly known as Teflon, is an engineering thermoplastic with excellent chemical resistance and heat resistance, having the lowest coefficient of friction among any known solid materials.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon) is one of the few plastics that can withstand working temperatures above 200℃ and is an excellent electrical insulator. However, it has pure mechanical properties and is often used as liners or inserts in components after PTFE CNC machining.
Typical density: 2.2 g/cm³
Cheap CNC Material——HDPE
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is a thermoplastic with high strength-to-weight ratio, high impact strength, and good weather resistance.
HDPE is a lightweight cheap CNC material, suitable for outdoor use and pipes. Similar to ABS, HDPE CNC machining is commonly used to create prototypes before injection molding.
Typical density: 0.93-0.97 g/cm³
Cheap CNC Material——PEEK
PEEK is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic with excellent mechanical properties, thermal stability over a very wide temperature range, and excellent resistance to most chemicals.
PEEK is often used to replace metal parts due to its high strength-to-weight ratio. Medical grades are also available, making PEEK CNC machining suitable for biomedical applications.
Typical density: 1.32 g/cm³
